 | Kiddush Club E-mail Instructions
Your Kiddush Club e-mail account is a regular e-mail account that you must configure on your computer's e-mail client. Outlook, Outlook Express, Entourage, Apple Mail, Eudora are but a few of the e-mail clients you can use, depending on your computer system.
In all cases, they will ask you for some information when you configure your account. The mail points are:
- POP3 server
- incoming mail server is: mail.kiddushclub.org
- no matter what the program tells you, your account name is you full kiddushclub.org address.
in this example, the user name is "1"
- the username is: 1@kiddushclub.org (use your assigned name instead of the "1")
- the account name is: 1@kiddushclub.org (use your assigned name instead of the "1")
- we will assign you a password
- your outbound mail server (or SMTP) is your regular and normal outbound server. You may need to authenticate with your ISP on this. If you are really lucky, you can use mail.kiddushclub.org as the smtp and it will work. But you need to be really lucky, as many ISPs have blocked use of any outbound servers other than their own.
you can usually get the outbound server info by copying the info from another account on the computer. if none of these methods work, you might be lucky and use "587" as your outbound SMTP port. Most ISPs are blocking the default port 25 for sending through alternate servers, so replace the number 25 with 587 and you should be able to get an outbound message sent using mail.kiddushclub.org
- your account will be limited to 5 mb. We're not Yahoo or Google, so don't ask for more. And if you're using your kiddushclub.org account for work purposes, you are a really sick puppy and may need help. This is for fun stuff only.
- you will be enrolled as a full member on the kiddushclub mailing list, where you may post jokes you can tell your rabbi, info about scotch or other fine beverages, or items of interest to members. You will find out about kiddushclub charitable events quickest this way, and since that's the point of this exercise, you'll want to keep checking your mail.
